1984 gave birth to Ferrari's Golden Child

The Ferrari Testarossa was nothing more than a star. It birthed a ground breaking design which ruled in the 80's as one of the most admired beauties of its era.

The car was even cruised around by Crockett and Tubbs, of the 80's coolest detective TV series, Miami Vice. Movie Director Michael Mann (Heat, Collateral), specifically had to use the car, on his intention to complete the series as the coolest for the MTV generation.

The Ferrari Testarossa grew into an international television star, which was used in blockbuster movies as a primary transportation tool by the main characters. The car featured in Dolph Lundgren's Dark Angel, and other movies like Johnny Be Good, Quantum Leap, Rocky V etc.

Features

The two door coupe car which became more of an 80's icon, was brand built as a super car with a benchmark in which other contemporary sport cars were measured.

Its cutting edge design with grater side strakes or gills had the major function of feeding air into its interior to cool. The design brought a solution to Testarossa's predecessor (Ferrari Berlinetta Boxer 512) and older sport car models, which then had common traits of having cramped hot and uncomfortable inside.

Its front design produces a sleek design with hidden headlights, while it also has a fantastic rear view that made it uniquely gorgeous as at that time.

The Ferrari Testarossa was officially unveiled in 1984 at the Paris Auto Show. It was produced according to a brief of making the car a regular one to drive by anyone, and to also posses the qualities of a sports racing car. It was the first Ferrari built expressly for the American Market, with an opening $87,000 price tag.

The unveil immediately stimulated a lot of interest from buyers, which went further having backlogs all through 1986 due to over demand. For a long time, the Ferrari Testarossa was the fastest regular production car in the world. The car had a lifeline of 11 years, with different models made.

Engine structure

The machine came with a powerful 12 Cylinder Flat Engine (V12), having a total of 48 Valves maintaining four valves per cylinder. Its transmission unit is constructed closely under the engine, with 6 gears (5 forward gears and 1 reverse gear), which are all synchromesh.

Drivers are offered maximum comfort, with the luxurious Conolly leather seats they are upholstered in, and its flat head rest embroidered with the Ferrari logo.

Inside the car leaves a more practical, spacious and luxurious design. For a long time, it was considered having the most modern sports car cockpit. The seats are electrically adjustable, and has large stereo sub woofers in front of the driver seat.

The Testarossa wheels on dull silver cast alloy wheels. The front wheels carry 16 x 8 and the rear being 16 x 10'.
