Ferrari Cars For Shell Customers

Customers of Shell Ghana Limited will have the opportunity to own a Ferrari model car as part of the “Shell Velocita 1” promotion that started on Monday, September 14, 2009. The promotion, according to the company, was designed to consolidate the company's leadership position in the sale of high quality fuel. Shell V-power brand was the first differentiated fuel to be introduced into the Ghanaian market in March 2007. Customers who purchase 20 litres of shell V-power, 25 liters of Diesel Extra or any of the company's petroleum products would qualify to pay GH¢ 1.5 for one of the Ferrari toy cars which have been designed exclusively for Shell; with the company subsidizing Gh¢3 for each car. At a ceremony to launch the promotion, Omar V. Benson, Managing Director of Shell Ghana, noted that the objective of the Velocita 1promotion was to create awareness about the Shell V-power brand. He stated that prior to the introduction of Shell V-power, patrons of the fuel were dissatisfied with the product l on the market, adding, “So far some of our customers have embraced the change and are protecting their cars with quality fuel.” Mr. Benson said: “There was still a sizeable number of price-sensitive customers who do not realize the long-term benefit of using high quality grade fuel. Discerning shell V-Power customers looking for opportunities to express association with the brand can collect many branded model cars as they wish for themselves and their kids.” Customers, he noted, can only purchase one of the model toy cars at a cost GH¢9 on a visit to a shell service station. “You can not collect more than six cars on a visit,” Mr. Benson reiterated. The models cars, which use kinetics energy, include the performance 360 spider, F430, F2004, F50, Enzo and the supper America brands. Ferrari sports cars are noted for their high speed, especially in the Formula-1 World Championship races where it has enjoyed great success. Ferrari and Shell have been in a technical partnership since 1947. In a bid to prove to the public how fast the model cars are, Mr. Benson engaged an eleven year old boy in a race that attracted a lot of cheers from the gathering.By Emelia Ennin Abbey
