And it is comfortable. The dash is stitched, the headliner is sculpted for more headroom, the carpet is high quality, the seats are leather and swaths of leather can also be found on the door sills and doors. The dash is stylish and modern with easy-to-read gauges and LCD screens and the switchwork is particularly impressive. The trim on the dash and center console is all real brushed aluminum, as are the inset buttons. The large Alpine nav and head unit provides a large map as well as an optional back-up camera, which you'll want. While the view out the front and side windows is superb, the low seating position and rear-mounted engine means the rear window is tiny and the view out the back is about good enough to make sure you're not backing into a barn. But what an engine. Back when Lotus first put a Toyota inline-four in the Elise, some scoffed at the idea of a Toyota engine in a Lotus, but we all know how that turned out. This time around, people again rolled their eyes at the thought of a 3.5L V-6 normally found pulling light-duty in the civilized Toyota Camry powering the Evora, and again the eye-rollers are wrong. With a Lotus exhaust and intake system fitted and the engine computer reprogrammed, the engine picks up an extra 8 hp, 10 lb-ft, a sweet power band and possibly the best noise ever to emanate from a Toyota engine.
