Carrera adds Ferrari slot car rights

Carrera of American adds Ferrari slot car racing sets to its line in 2010.CRANBURY, N.J.—Carrera of America has been granted exclusive electric slot car racing rights to Italian supercar brand Ferrari in a deal that will see the toymaker market race sets featuring highly detailed historic and modern Ferrari models in various scales. 

Debut products from the company will include three versions of the Ferrari 250 GTO for Carrera’s Digital 124 large scale line: Targa Florio 1964 No.112, ’62 Sebring 12h 1964 and ’62. Carrera will also introduce 1:24 scale versions of the 250’s successor, the Ferrari 330 as a ‘P3/4 No.22,’ and the NART ’67 version of the Ferrari 412P originally introduced in 1976.

Carrera's Digital 132 format will add two complete Ferrari race sets and five individual cars in 1:32 scale. The ‘Formula Racing’ set will feature the Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari F1 2010 while the ‘Ferrari Competition’ set will include the Ferrari 599 XX in racing version and ‘Geneva Motorshow’ presentation variation. Other 1:32 cars include the Ferrari 458 Italia in two versions.

Carrera's Digital 143 line, in 1:43 scale, adds a ‘Full Speed’ racing set pitting Fernando Alonso’s Ferrari F1 2010 against Sebastian Vettel’s Red Bull RB5. The 5.6 meter track features a loop-the-loop and overtaking for up to three drivers creates a real-life Formula 1 home motodrome. The F1 2010 and the Ferrari 599 XX are also available in the ‘Geneva Motorshow’ set.

Carrera Evolution, the company’s analog system, will offer a ‘Ferrari Racing’ set with two Ferrari 599 XX cars and a set that pits a Ferrari F1 2010 against a McLaren-Mercedes MP4-24 ‘No.1.’ Additionally, there will also be two Ferrari 458 Italia offered.

The Carrera GO!!! series will include four Formula 1 complete sets. A ‘Formula Cup’ set pits Fernando Alonso in an F1 2010 against the McLaren Mercedes MP4-24, and in the ‘Formula Masters’ set against Sebastian Vettel’s Red Bull RB5. ‘Formula Champions’ replicates Ferrari's famous duels with the French Renaults and ‘Ferrari Champions’ focuses on battles with team colleague Felipe Massa. The ‘Sportcar Stars’ set pits the Ferrari 599 XX against the Porsche GT3 Cup. ‘Ferrari Challenge’ offers two versions of the 599 XX, while the Ferrari 599 XX and F1 2010 will also be available as individual vehicles and can also be mostly found in the Carrera GO!!! accessories package.
