Ferrari has confirmed that it will continue to use KERS at this weekend's Spanish Grand Prix, despite the reliability problems it has suffered with the technology so far this season.
The Maranello-based outfit was forced to remove KERS at the Chinese Grand Prix because it could not guarantee it would remain reliable.
And, following KERS problems suffered by Felipe Massa in the last race, there had been some doubts about whether Ferrari would keep the devices on its car for Barcelona.
The team has, however, confirmed that work conducted since the Sakhir event has left it convinced it has overcome early teething problems.
A statement from Ferrari said: "On the subject of KERS, this will be used again in Spain, after much work has been carried out on the reliability of the system since the last race.
"KERS should be an advantage here for the F60, built to run with the energy system as an intrinsic part of its design, which means that, as was evident in back to back tests during practice in Bahrain, the F60 gains virtually no advantage in terms of car balance, when running without it. KERS can be a significant driver aid at the race start here, as the main straight is very long."
Ferrari's decision to press ahead with KERS comes with BMW Sauber opting to remove the systems from its cars in Spain because it wants to concentrate on a new aerodynamic package that has been introduced.
