Jenson Button hopes to lift his Hungaroing curse today with help from Lewis Hamilton's KERS.
The world championship leader had just one run and qualified a season-worst eighth in a blighted session after losing crucial minutes for a safety change to his rear suspension.
Fernando Alonso took his first pole in nearly two years with Button's title rivals Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber second and third and Hamilton fourth in a session that ended in chaos after the timing system failed.
Button said: "It's not a worry being behind Lewis, it's a positive. He's starting behind two Red Bulls I'm challenging in the championship.
