Formula 1: Australian Grand Prix 2010

The winning formula in Bahrain, Massa and Alonso, with their Ferrari car could be setting out for another victory in Australia. Othercars like the McLaren, Red Bull and Mercedes are chasing the Ferrari at the moment. If they fail, Ferrari could start an era where they will return back to their glorious days with Michael Schumacher sitting in the Mercedes car.
From Bahrain to Australia, Melbourne, F1 is going down under for its second race of the calendar year and more intensified rivalry is starting to develop. This venue is usually held at the first race of the year but for some reason, it has been switched to the second race and that could be another familiar ground for many seasons to come. A 3 day race will be starting with practice stages on 26th March and ending with the big race on 28th March. The race circuit is 5.303km with the race distance at 307.574km. All drivers’ needs to do 58 lap to be crowned champion and Michael Schumacher lap record of 1:24.125 still stands since 2004. Reigning F1 champion Jensen Button won this race in 2009 in the Brawn-Mercedes car.

Fast cars
Rule changes like the point system, tire usage and other technical aspects have pave way for some teams in the F1 circuit. The first race reveals a few things that we can expect in the incoming race. The obvious few are that Ferrari, Red Bull, McLarens and Mercedes Benz will be amongst the top challengers for both the drivers world championship title and construction drivers title. At Bahrain, it was definitely Red Bull Sebastian Vettel that showed the potential at qualifying and in the race. It was only their new Hydraulics that failed during the race that pushed him from pole position to 4th. Team mate Mark Webber finished in a disappointing 8th.

If there is one team with true pace and consistency then look no further than the Ferrari who achieved a one two at Bahrain. The Ferrari returns back to the top form and the team could be set out for regain their previous glory. The duo, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, seems to have what it takes to win the top prizes in F1. Another team trailing the Ferrari are the McLaren, they have Lewis Hamilton sharing the podium with both Massa and Alonso at Bahrain. The reigning world champion, Jensen Button, only found himself in 7th and Hamilton will need him to improve in Australia if they want to keep up with the Ferrari.

Legendary F1 driver, Michael Schumacher, did not return with a win and that is because of his car has not been able to push that top gear it required to compete with the rest. Both him and Nico Rosberg finished in a respective 5th and 6th place at Bahrain. It is highly unlikely that Both drivers will be able to get better car in the next two races.
The rest It is obvious that some cars won’t be able to make an impact this year and most of them are the ones going out of Bahrain. The BMW, HRT, Vrgin, Renault and Lotus all crashed out one reason or another but mostly on Hydraulics. Never the less, the Force India cars have been impressive and they will eventually lead the midfield pack. Liuzzi and Sutil gained a respective 9th and 12th while Renault Robert Kubica took 11th, one behind Ruben Barrichello’s Williams-Cosworth.

Verdict
The battle is starting to heating up and the Ferraris will be the one to beat after Bahrain. The Red Bull and McLaren are not far behind but it will take a lot to break the Alonso and Massa team spirit. Australian is a good hunting ground for Michael Schumacher but that was in 2004. Hamilton and Button have won too but it could be another one two for the Ferrari.
