FERRARI F1 driver Fernando Alonso has taken delivery of his new road car in a PR move that will delight Maserati dealers.
Twice World Champion Alonso is now the proud fleet driver of a graphite grey Maserati GranCabrio.
It’s the perfect way for UK Maserati car dealers to flag up the launch of the new model next month. The first cars arrive in UK dealers from April, making it the first 4-seat drop-top in Maserati’s history.
It is the brand’s cheaper rival to the Bentley Continental GTC, with prices starting at £95k.
Alonso, we’re told, ‘was particularly impressed with the roominess offered by the GranCabrio, perfect for 4 adult passengers.’ The 440hp 4.7-litre Ferrari V8 should also do the job (and, as Maserati is the posh sister brand of Ferrari, provides the requisite link for the firm).
PR stunts like this don’t come along every day for car dealers – if you are a Maserati dealer, how are you planning to use the well-timed tie-in with the first GP winner of 2010?
